Happy Tails!

Rescued Boxers in their new homes

Hello!

We adopted our boxer mix Molly (formerly Aspen) from BLR almost 5 years ago.  She was one of a litter born to a pregnant boxer found roaming around the desert near Casa Grande; BLR took the mom from the shelter and fostered her and the (I believe) 7 pups that were subsequently born.  Molly was an adorable red brindled pup and our family was smitten right away.  She was my first dog ever, and when I was having some trouble initially (I didnt really know how to figure out the whole be the alpha thing), your trainer spent a priceless hour with me on the phone to help me get on track.  From that point on, Molly has been an absolutely ideal dog.  She is wonderful with all people, adults and children alike.  She loves all dogs, and she is even gets along great with our newly adopted cat, too.  We personally thing that Molly is the best dog EVER!

Thank you so much for all you do to help these dogswithout you we might never have had the chance to make Molly a part of our family.  For anyone who is on the fence about taking in a boxer mix, please give these great dogs a chance!

With best regards,

Andrea Guiney and The Guiney Family

I wanted to e-mail you and let your organization know how happy I am with Serena.  She is a great dog!  I had some skin issues in the beginning and thought I might be allergic to her, but I am doing better now.

She is a wonderful dog and I am very blessed to get such a great dog like Serena!

Sincerely,
Christina and Serena

Hava wanted to wish everyone at Boxer Luv a Happy Holiday Season.  Can't believe she's been with us over a year now.  Doing VERY well!!  She had been on medication for Valley Fever but her levels stabled in August at 1:8 so her vet decided to put her on a test period of 3 months of no meds to see how her body would react.  3 months later in November her levels DROPPED again....this time down to 1:4........and this was after 3 months of no meds.  So we're pretty confident her Valley Fever is in remission at this point.  Of course, as always , we will monitor her to see if there are any indications it may come back.  She also put on an additional 15 lbs since we adopted her but she has lost 7 of those lbs.  If we can get her down another 2 she will be at her ideal weight!!  She still loves her walks, laying in our laps and giving us hugs CONSTANTLY!!!  But we wouldn't have it any other way!!

Hope everyone has a great Christmas and safe New Year.

Rob, Melissa and "Havi Jo"

Thank you for introducing us to our little Cali! She has been a wonderful addition to our household. She has adjusted very well, but she is definitely a morning person.  She is excited for her morning walk and biscuit, usually before we are ready to get out of bed.  She loves her new "brother", Duke, the five-year old Vizsla we already had.  They both like to go about 100 mph, so they're a good match for each other.  We have taught her to swim, and despite her initial hesitation, now you can't keep her out of the pool.  Thank you Boxer Luv for all of your hard work and dedication to the breed.

We rescued Gilligan from a slow horrible death in 2007. He was tied up in a yard and the owner let him get in this condition. He was sick , dehydrated and had mange when we pulled him off the euthanasia list at ACC.

Can you believe this...  Our Gilligan, who was in such bad condition, look at him now!!! Here is update from his adoptive family.
_____________________________________________

Gilligan is doing AWESOME!!! I love him so much. He is the funniest dog ever. He doesn't snore as much as he did at first, which is good because now I can sleep better. He's always sleeping with his tongue sticking out. He loves to play with the other dogs in our family. All 5 of the dogs together is fun to watch.

We are going to  the vet next week to get a check up and to get shots if needed. I think they are. Healthwise, he hasn't had any problems at all.

He doesn't lay down on the floorboard anymore when he goes for a ride. He can't wait to get in and go and loves to drive with his head sticking out. He still takes my shoes and pillows and other things outside, but he never hurts anything. I think he just likes to mess with me and hide them from me.

Take Care and THANK YOU!!!

Chuck

Good Morning!

We have been the lucky family that was able to adopt Jinga. What a wonderful dog she is.  She adjusted immediately..... sleeping, feedings, playing and best of all she finally knows that she has a "forever" home. She loves her toys, can't get enough of her big "DOG" bed, and best of all.... she plays and jumps in the air like she is a deer!  It is the cutest thing. She is a big, strong girl at 71 pounds, so when she jumps you get out of her way! I can't imagine waking up and not seeing her sweet face.  She has truly brightened up our lives.

Thank you Boxer Luv!

This is the first pictures of the Big Boy CJ and friends. Francis is sitting at my feet did not want to get into the picture this time.
He is doing well and loves to go to the dog walk (take me)  I need to be firm with the training as you can see he is a big boy!
Susan and Boxer Dad Don

CJ would like if Rocky would come out to play!!!!!!  I really have to keep an eye on him around the cage--he will learn.  We love CJ already!!!!!

Hello Boxer Luv Volunteers,

Jombee is doing well. He is truely the perfect dog for our family. He loves taking morning walks and playing with the boys. Here are some pictures.

The Worthington"s

Perhaps Pixie or (Tinker)Bell--  But, Daisy Mae?  A flower she is not!  Still, that's what we named her.  Daisy'd been rescued from the streets of Phoenix, her green collar so tight it had to be cut from her neck.  On January 12, the Boxer formally known as Kelly Clark joined Brian and I, our three Labs, one Shepherd and one Boxer.  And, that's how we became the Bradley Bunch!    She is a sprinkler-bitin', icecube lovin', backyard diggin', everything lickin', TV watchin', bird chasin', bed hoggin' Boxer girl, and we love her!  Thanks, Harry, for bringing her into our family!
The Bradley Bunch
Brian, Becky, Maize, Soda, Blue, Tonka, Cowboy & Daisy

Sweet Bravo was adopted yesterday by a great family who lost their
senior female in March. He joins 2 boys in his new family.

He was rescued by BLR last December after his owner took him to ACC for euthanization. He had Valley Fever and owner didn't want to treat it. His Valley Fever has decreased in the past 5 months that we have cared for him, and he is much healthier now; a very happy boy. We have experienced great success with treating Valley Fever. Consistent application of medicine is the key.

His new family was  just thrilled with him when they picked him up Saturday!

Mugsy was adopted from us in 2006 after we rescued him from the kill list at the Animal Shelter.
He is much loved and pampered at his new home.

Hi Dona,

Just wanted to update you on Portia. She has bonded very well with our family and other pets. She is a character and brings a lot of laughter into our lives. She loves to play fetch whether it be a ball, frisbee, or toy, she's game. When she's in a playful mood she occasionally does somersaults. One of her funnier things is drinking out of the water dish --both front paws in the dish and if she's really needs a refresher she puts her whole head in and blows bubbles. We can't thank Boxer Luv enough for all the joy we've found in Portia.

Sincerely,

Blaine and Kerri Monger

Pebbles

Pebbles is doing just fine, she is adapting really well I think. She quickly learned to use the dog door so she goes outside to take care of her business when ever she wants now. There were a couple of mistakes the first night and that was all.

I have enclosed a picture of her sleeping with her right hip showing because as you know she had   papilloma's on her right hip. Well she went to the Vet's on the 13th got her teeth and gums worked on and while she was asleep, the Vet cut off all 5 of the growths that she had. He also said that the surgery on her left rear leg was probably for an ACL tear and that she had also had surgery on her left ear at sometime in her previous life. So someone had tried to take care of her. So now I have a very expensive "medium size" boxer, LOL.  She is due back at the Vet's later this week to have the sutures taken out

What have I found out about her so far. She can bark but only when you get excited when playing with her. She likes to sleep under the covers in the bed, a first for me. She no longer has much gas, the change in diet seems to have cured 99% of the gas. She is really a food hound, when she eats she really goes after it an licks the bowl. But she is really good about it, as I have run several tests on her to see her temperament about that issue. She will stop eating if I tell her too, or I can put my hand down in the bowl or take the bowl and she just looks at me waiting for me to set it back down.

She has put on a little weight so far, she started at the Vet's at 52#'s she has gone to 53.7#'s her energy levels have gone up. She is really curious about everything, we go to archery practice at Embry-Riddle. She hangs out with everyone and loves to play fight with me while we walk down to the targets with everyone to pull the arrows, she wants to play tug of war with the leash in her teeth. She has started to try to play with Rocky just a little she was grabbing his leash this evening an pulling on it. It seems the comfortable she gets the more playful she is getting. But right now he is just too big to play in certain ways with her, I am sure they will sort it out, she is not afraid to stand up to him, which is really funny sometimes since she is half his size. It looks like he is going to be protective of her, he kept getting between her and the Vet in the office.

She is really a go dog loves to go in the van, I put on my hat an she has learned that generally means we are going in the van somewhere and she gets excited and jumpy and wants to be first in the van. She is good about staying in the van, she just looks out the windows looking for or watching me.

She is learning about being more alert to things going on out in the yard an checking the back door when someone comes in. When she first got here she could be asleep on the couch, Gloria could come in the door and Pebbles didn't even wake up. That is changing, she spends part of the morning and afternoon out in the yard wandering around checking out everything. She got a brief chance to chase a yard rabbit the other day as Rocky chasing the rabbit and it almost ran over her, so she got excited about that. Not to worry about the rabbit, the dogs have been chasing them in the yard for 8 years and haven't gotten close to one yet, LOL. I cannot think of anything else off the top of my head, so I should probably close for now.

Yours Michael M.

Neha AKA Jahtay with Pinky Winky

We wanted to let you all of you know Jehtay (now Neha) is doing great!  She has settled in nicely and has quickly become part of the family.  I cannot thank you enough for pairing Michelle and I with her.  She has been a perfect angel since day one.  That is if you discount the minor potty training accidents.  We have found out she is no different than any of us in that she hates to go out in the rain, and refuses to go potty outside when it does, thankfully we live in the desert.  She is so smart and polite it is amazing.  We have also found out she loves the color pink!  Her favorite toy as we have nicknamed it Pinky Winky the octopus.  We go through at least one a week but the look on her face when she gets a new one is priceless.  I have attached a couple of photos of her with I think Pinky Winky the fourth or maybe the fifth.  She has put on about 5 to 10 pounds and looks beautiful.  Everyone in the neighborhood that’s met her falls in love with her.  She loves to play with other dogs and go on her daily walks/jogs.  Thank you again, for allowing Michelle and I the opportunity to adopt Neha into our home.  We will continue to share updates as the months and years go by.

Jeff and Michelle

Cooper AKA Roscoe Jones

Cooper and Laila

Hello Boxer Luv,
I thought you both would like to see some updated pictures of our babies, Leila and Cooper! We adopted Leila thru Boxer Luv almost a year and a half ago, and three months ago brought Cooper into our lives.  Leila and Cooper are so inseparable, they are always playing and when they (eventually) wear each other out, they lay right on top of each other for naps.  Its the cutest thing!  Both of our Boxer Luv babies have brought so much joy to our lives, we cant even begin to imagine life before them!  Thank you to you both for bringing Cooper into our lives!
Love,
Chris, Julie, and Leila Bylow

Maxi was adopted 12/15/07, here is an update from new owner.

Boxer Luv Volunteers,

I just wanted to let you know that I am so happy to have Maxi in my life.  He is doing quite well and adjusting very nicely.  I have recently gotten my backyard landscaped and he really loves it.  I am glad I did, because he has a TON of energy.  I almost wish he had another play partner because I don't know if I am enough for him, but we are working on it.  I have him enrolled in a beginner obedience class @ PetsMart that starts this Sunday out in Buckeye, mostly because I want him to get used to being around some other dogs and learning a little control while around them.  Anyways, I will continue to keep you updated and thanks for everything.
Aaron Whetzel

Rocky Jones

Hello Boxer Luv-

I just wanted to touch base with you in regards to Rocky Jones. Rocky is amazing as I told you when we first got him. Rocky has acclimated well to our new home and is spoiled rotten. I take Rocky for a walk each night and he is doing well on the leash. There are times when he wants to take me for a walk, but soon realizes that he is pulling me and calms down. Rocky is always excited to see us when we get home and be relieved from his kennel, since he enjoys the backyard and his huge dog bed in our room so much. Jaden our almost 4 year old son and Rocky play each night. They chase each other around and play fight. Jaden adores Rocky so much, and Rocky is incredibly gentle and knows how to play gentle with Jaden. Rocky enjoys his every Sunday trip to his grandparents to play with his cousins, and wears them down as my parents tell us his cousins sleep for three days after playing with Rocky. Rocky had a great first Christmas with us and enjoyed his special gift from Santa, which was organic pigs ears that took him about one minute to devour, as you all know he is a big boy, weighing in at 82lbs, all muscle. I thank you once again for bringing our baby boy into our lives and we could not be more blessed than we are to have Rocky.

Boxer wiggles and slobbery kisses-

Rocky, Damion, Jenney and Jaden Jones

Taylor and Rocco AKA Rocky Racoon

Harry,
Happy New Year.  I just wanted to send a quick up date on Taylor, whom we adopted last spring.  After recovering from kennel cough - which was so scary for me having never been through it before --she has been happy and healthy. She has fit in really well with our family and our routine.  She is very patient with the kids, but tends to enjoy a crayola snack every now and then.  She is very curious about most of their toys and we often them "stashed" in or under her bed in her crate!!

She and Rocco (aka Rocky Racoon) get along famously.  They play and rough house until they are both exhausted.  We are very happy to have them both and so thankful to Boxer Rescue for matching them to our family.

Take care and thank you for all the hard work you do!
Amy Haas

 Boomer

'king' Boomer

Dear Boxer Luv Volunteers,

Boomer is now six months old, just got 'fixed' and weighs 60 pounds.  He is a joy and truly a family dog or king, depending on the point of view.

Jack Garvin
you may approach.

Patton AKA Daisey Duke

Dear Boxer Luv,

About 2 years ago, we adopted a Boxer through you all.  I believe at the time, her name was Daisy Duke.   We renamed her to Patton.   Anyway, at the time, we didn't have any children, but we knew we'd have some soon.   We did!!   We had a little boy October 8, 2006.  Patton and our son Joseph became fast friends.   Patton is so sweet and gentle with our little boy.   They are pratically inseperable.  It has been truly a blessing that we found a dog that has such a wonderful disposition.   We have had no problems at all with the two of them, and we can't wait for Joseph to get bigger so they can play even more together.

Recently we had our backyard completed.   Joseph and Patton would stand together looking out the window watching the workers together.  I attached the picture of the two of them together.   I hope you enjoy.

Laurie Hodgson

Sophie

Merry Christmas!

Hello Harry, Sophie is the sweetest dog. I don’t understand why anyone would want to get rid of her. She has adjusted very well. Her and Max love each other. Thank you so so so much for bringing her into our family. I have enclosed some pictures of Max and Sophie. These were taken with a couple of weeks of bringing her home. I think back in October. Max is alot bigger than Sophie now, she actually walks under him sometimes, Sophie is a healthy 55 lbs and Max 62lbs (pretty big for a 9month old) Sophie I think is about 2 one of the paper work that I received said she was born 10/19/2005. Again thank you and have a safe New Years.

Mango AKA Gracie

Dear Boxer Luv Rescue volunteers,

We actually changed Gracies name to Mango and she took to that real well.

Mango is doing really well. She loves to go swimming in our pool and try to get into the bathtub with my 18 month daughter.

Mango loves to go to the park and do a couple of laps around the playground take a one minute break and do her laps all over again.

She loves to play with other dogs. She has been such a joy to have in our family and she does so well with my daughter. We truly enjoy having Mango around.
Thank you for placing her in our home.

Xena and Alistair

We adopted Xena in July of 2006 and along came Alistair as a foster in November of the same year.  Poor Alisatair was starved and suffering from Parvo, but with medical care, lots of TLC and food, he has grown into a handsome boy.  We made a Youtube video so you can see how far he has come in the past year.  Xena takes great care of him and our older Boxer, Elvis makes sure he follows the house rules.  We love being a part of Boxer Luv.  Toni and Steve Goessman

Flynn

Dear Boxer Luv Rescue, Happy Holidays!

Or family is doing well, and Flynn is loved by all. He has attached to all of us well, but I think I am his favorite. Flynn is very calm and well behaved. He loves to go for walks, and it was funny to see him surprised and excited at the same time the first time he saw snow. His favorite spot is definetely the couch though,  He is a big baby.

Before

After

Gilligan was recently adopted from us, attached is a note from his new family and a photo of Gilligan when we first rescued him and now at his new home.

__________________________________________________________

Dear Boxer Luv volunteers,

I don't think I could've dreamed of adopting a better companion than Gilligan. He is just so happy and such a pleasure to have in my household. Not only for myself, but also for my other boxer, Sierra. Everybody that has met him just loves him ande they always say what a gorgeous boxer he is.

We paid a visit to our vet the other day so the Dr. and Gilligan could meet for the first time. Everything went great and we had a heart worm test done and he  is now on heart worm medication. I showed the vet, and everyone else the horrible pictures of Gilligan when he was rescued and the after pictures and they cant believe it's the same dog.

We try to go for at least one and sometimes two walks every day. He is so incredibly well mannered on the leash. He gets along great with my other dogs and he also got along great with my fathers boxer, Sedona. All three boxers had a boat load of fun playing together.

Gilligan is a special addition to my family. Thank you Boxer Luv rescue. You have an incredibly wonderfully and much needed organization.

Sincerely,
Gilligan and Chuck Crouthamel

Coco

Dear Boxer Luv Rescue Volunteers,

We added Coco to our family on Halloween night. She has fit right in. Our last boxer was afraid of the pool and did not like the Dog park. As soon as she got in the back yard when she was brought to us she went right in the pool to wash off... Since then we have been to the Dog Park about 7 times and she is so much fun to watch. She jumps higher than any dog I have ever seen. AS soon as we come back from the park she plops herself on the first step of the pool and washes herself off. She is very excited at times and the first two weeks at the house it was like having a new born again. The last three nights she has slept through the night 10:30- 6:30 and seems now to have our routine down. She loves the backyard, walking, playing ball with the kids and following me wherever I go.  It was so hard to lose our Sadie this summer ( boxer ) that we adopted 6 years ago but Coco seems to have some of Sadies spirit in her. They actually look exactly alike.  We will take some pictures over the Holidays and send them your way .  She is a joy and we love her more everyday. Thanks for all that you do to save these beautiful dogs. This is one family who will always sing your praises and send people to  Boxer Rescue every chance we get.. She is a big hit at the dog park,   Beautiful Girl, Official Gate Greeter, and the dog who seems to never get tired.are just a few of the names that she has been given. She has made lots of friends..
Thanks again,
The Cruz Family...

Brianna AKA Chelsey
Brianna was recently adopted from us, here is a note from the new owners. She is another great dog we rescued from the kill list at animal control:

__________________________________________________
Brianna (AKA. Chelsey) is doing absolutely wonderful!! She has adjusted to our schedule for the most part, still not happy with the kennel when we're not home though, but she's fine, she has apparently had some training in her past, we have been working on a lot of commands with her and she seems to pick them up rather quick!! We are soooo happy we chose her over the others, she has such a personality that you wouldn't believe!!! oh by the way, she hasn't missed a meal since she's  been here, and she hasn't turned down any snacks offered her either.. We love her to death!!!! Thank you soo much!!!!!

Brock

Brock - covered with ticks

Brock in his new home

Brock was rescued by BLR 9/6/07.

He was found as a stray , looking for food in alley garbage cans. He was covered with thousands of ticks, starving and near death.

3 Volunteers picked off all of the ticks 1 by 1, it took about 4 days.

One of our super Foster moms, took him under her wing and nursed him back to health.

We recently adopted Brock to a family that has another Boxer

Bojangles

Dear Bojangles that had such a hard beginning.  He was returned several times through no fault of his own, then was hit by a car and returned again.

Finally!  I have the photos!  Here is my darling Bo Jangles.. one he is with his sister Carlie who we had before we got Bo Jangles.

Let me just tell you that it was not easy, he had major trust issues and it took at least a year for us to finally bond.  I love this dog!  He is proof to me that a dog can over come whatever issues they have with love and patience.  He is such a good boy.  It saddens me that he was given back so many times but I think it was because I was suppose to get him.  Please be assured he will be with me til the day he dies.  He has the great life he deserves.  He loves to go on walks, to the bark park, camping, hiking and his favorite thing in the world is FOOD!

A success story for all of you at Boxer Luv Rescue.

Thank you and Happy Holidays to all of you,

Kimberly Shows

Bonnie and Joey-now Luna and Sunny
I thought you might be interested in seeing pictures of your little girl and her boyfriend. Luna and Sunny are getting along great. We took them on their first hike this morning, they were so excited that they tired themselves out in the first mile. My son has really bonded with them, loves playing with them and sometimes even acts like a puppy. Amanda's allergic reaction has improved, as seen in the picture, she can now hug on them without breaking out. I love having them as an addition to our family. Thanks for being such a wonderful foster-mom and being involved in such an awesome organization. I'm always praising Boxer Luv Rescue.

Take care,

Joseph

Haley
Hello,

I want to thank you a million times over and over for my little boxer Haley. I adopted her in 2005 after my pit bull/boxer mix died of cancer.

Haley has brought me such joy! She is very needy and I love providing her with all of the love she needs. We go everywhere together. Last summer and the summer before, I brought her to my RV in Lakside. She is very curious about skunks and very scared of raccoons (good). But she just loves going there with me.

Sometimes, I take her to work here in the valley. I teach junior high school age kids and they just love her too.

I am a contributor monthly to your organization, and when I retire soon, I would like to volunteer my time to your organization.

Again,

Thank you.

Terry McCabe

Annie
Here are some recent pictures of our Annie, after having her for two months.  She is the sweetest dog that Terry or I have ever met.  She loves all people, and all dogs and is great with kids.  The fact that Jeffrey doesn't bother her says it all.  She is so nonthreatening.  She has lost quite a bit of weight (about 8 pounds) and her coat color has improved immensely, but she is a little more grey than the pictures show.  She can now go on 15-20 min walks with just a couple rest periods.  (She used to have trouble making it down the driveway and back.)  She loves life and makes us smile.  So far she is healthy and doing very well.

She has some vision and some hearing and does just fine with that.  Jeffrey must know that because he doesn't get upset when she accidentally bumps into him.  She and Lexi are good friends.  She was wearing a gross gray collar when I got her which to me epitomized how she had been completely neglected for so long and then discarded on a country road.  I will make sure that she always has a pretty clean pink collar on for the rest of her life, and try to show her how very special and appreciated she is.  We love her so much.  I don't know how anyone could live with such a sweet soul and not cherish her.
Linda Cuellar

Cognac
Hi BLR volunteers,

I just wanted you to know the wonderful blessing Cognac has been.
We love her so much!! So far she has been to the doggie park but
she doesn't like it much. I think she prefers to walk around the
entire park rather than to be confined to the smaller area. She
loves to swim with us and I must keep the pool gate locked or she
will go for a swim at random hours. I could go on and on about
this girl, but I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank you
for her, she has brought so much joy into my life!

Sincerely
Maria Donnelly

Kenai

Here is an update from Kenai's new mom. She was recently adopted from BLR. Kenai came from a bad home when we rescued her, she is now healthy and happy in her new loving home.

Kenai is shown here at work with her mom as a Boxer receptionist!

Corky (aka Mac)

Dear Boxer Luv volunteers,

Corkie is doing so good, the kids renamed him MAC and he seems to love the name cause he responds to it and comes when you call him. we just got back from a long walk and we have been walking him alot. the kids walk him up and down the street off and on all day. Its funny to watch them with him they love him. Also we irrigated yesterday and Mac had so much fun in it I wish you were here to see it I will send you pictures when I get some. Thank you so much for him we love him and he seems to love us to. I think that he knows me pretty well already everywhere that I go he is right there out side to he looks for me its funny. Anyways thank you again he is perfect.

 Terri Keefer

 Yuma (aka Bob)

Hi everyone,

I am Mary Beall. My husband Barry and I are fostering
(soon to be his forever home) Yuma aka Bob. He is the funniest dog on
the planet. He runs and jumps all over the place, keeping our Welsh
Terrier entertained. This is our 1st boxer and I have to say he is
awesome. My husband was kinda wishy washy about getting another dog
when I first got Bob. Funny thing is now Bob gets more of his attention
than Hope and I put together. OK we aren't complaining....where's the
crate, oh yeah in the garage. Wasn't he suppose to sleep in that thing?
Truth of the matter is I moved it out there. While there is little room
left in our King size bed, Bob has stolen our hearts, my pillow, and
rounded out our family perfectly. Now then, while at the Vet last week
I met Nikki who is fostering Bonnie....OMG it was love at 1st
site....with Bonnie , OK Nikki seems nice but that Lil girl Bonnie is
beautifulllllll. I wonder if Hope would pack her bowls and leave home
if I dared to bring another boxer home?? OK it has been a long Monday
and I am rambling. I wanted to say Hi to you all and Thanks a million
times over for making each lil life count....Bob Rocks and we love him!
See ya, Mary

Olive Oil (aka Portia)

Hi Harry,

She is such a love. I did discover when I took her to my vet (right after my last update to you) that she had a UTI, poor baby. That explains a lot of her behavior. Unfortunately she still has not quite cleared the infection, although she is doing much better. Hopefully this latest course of antibiotics will do the trick.

Portia loves the dog park, her many toys, and my constant companionship. It’s been a great excuse for me to work from home half days.

No one can believe she ended up in rescue. She is so well behaved and so beautiful. Thanks for passing her on to me. Someday I hope to be able to get her a friend, but for now she’ll have to make do with me and the cat.

Keep up the wonderful work!

Sarah

                                    Susie (aka Missy)

Good Afternoon Boxer Luv Rescue!

We just wanted to send you another update on Missy!

She has gained almost 10 pounds since we got her! She has had a couple of setbacks but her accomplishments are AMAZING!!!! When we get home she is SO excited, she runs from the couch in the living room to the bedroom and jumps on the bed and then back to the couch and she jumps up on us and gives us kisses! Her best friends are Chloe (F boxer), Chuy (M Chihuahua/Dachshund) & Yoda (M Mini Mutt). She still hasn't barked yet but we know she's happy by the way her tail makes her whole body wiggle and twist. She knows her name and comes when she is called. And she has NEVER had an accident in the house!

The best part of her coming into our lives is watching her become a friendly, curious dog who is seriously thinking about becoming a mischievous little girl!   When she gets in cahoots with her friends she is so carefree and brave! Pretty soon she is going to need a brother or sister that she can get in trouble with!

Thank you again!

Justin, Kealy & Missy

McGraw (aka Sullivan)

A Boxer baby with his little one.

Hi Boxer Luv Rescue ,

Sullivan ( McGraw ) is doing great and he's adjusting very well, as you can see in the picture.

Thanks!

Kim

"Rocky" alias "Punky Brewster"

  Hi Boxer Luv Rescue,

It was great talking with you the other night, and as you asked will email you to tell you all about Rocky!!! Oh my gosh, we love him! He is such a great fit to our little family of now 3 boxers!!!

Ginger, our 10 1/2 year old female, just plays all the time with him; they love it when we play fetch and they both chase after the toy, and carry it back together! He and Boomer, our 10 1/2 year old male also play VERY well together - they actually box together as boxers are know to do! When Boomer wears out, then Ginger and Rocky play!

Rocky is just a joy! He is so full of life; he makes me laugh all the time! He plays in our pond, non stop, and then runs through the doggie door, and brings all that dripping water into my house! Thank God for tile floors! And of course, he runs and jumps, soaking wet, into my lap! You'd think he was a 10lb dog! He is really a big boy!!!

He started obedience training this past Tuesday, and is doing very well - he catches on so quickly! He learned the electronic doggie door within the first couple days; we haven't had to kennel him at night or during the day as he immediately caught on to "potty training" !! He really responds to praising!

We also took him out on our boat a couple weeks ago, and he behaved so well! He was a bit nervous at first, but by the end of our short trip, he was a pro! We stopped a couple times and got out on shore to make sure he didn't have any accidents in the boat....

So, once again, I must thank you for our baby! You certainly knew how to pair him up with us! We love him so much! He is an absolute sweetheart!

Attached are a few pics - one on the boat, one in the back yard, and one sleeping with my other two babies!

Thanks Again!

Dorothy

Alice and Ripples

Thanks again for your phone call last week to follow up on Alice and Ripples. We’re happy to give you an update on our adopted pets.

As you know, we have lived with a series of beloved boxers over the (truly) better part of 34 years. When we lost the last one in October 2006, we stopped to take a lonely breath. The only benefit we experienced without pets in our lives was a little extra simplicity in housekeeping.

We are grateful you suggested Alice and Ripples to us. We didn’t want puppies, and we liked the idea of companionship among our companions when we’re not at home. We weren’t really worried about their disabilities, since we figured they would soon find our weaknesses as well. They set about exploring our house and yard with reserved curiosity. They were apprehensive about the dog door, but its benefits soon overcame their reluctance, and they both fly through it with the greatest of ease. They ignore the new names we gave them, Ripples is now Trina and Alice is now Maura, names of two of our favorite Irish singers. They both exercise fine strong voices of their own, and they don’t mind when we slip up and call them by the names of their predecessors. Their appetites have improved; Ripples looks much more robust now.

We had hints of Alice and Ripples personalities from what members of Boxer Rescue had told us and what we observed when we met them. Ripples is truly the alpha dog. On the first night in their new home, she managed to slink between the two dog beds we prepared for them, successfully preventing Alice from claiming one of them until we intervened. Each of them has claimed one of us as patron, or buddy, or whatever the canine interpretation is of best friend Len is Alice’s roustabout playmate, and I sit patiently with Ripples for extended periods of time, petting her and whispering to her. Ripples is becoming an effective and enthusiastic watchdog; both she and Alice have found napping places where they can keep an eye on things (see attached photo of Alice’s favorite napping spot). Ripples shares her predecessors antipathy for cats, especially the big black-and-white monster that lounges in the front yard and nearly lost its tail a few days ago in a dash to escape Ripples during a foray into the back yard.

Alice and Ripples are popular with our visitors. They are an enthusiastic welcoming committee, and they seem to enjoy keeping company with newcomers. Ripples always gets a dose of pity on first meeting, but her persistence and friendliness win everyone over. A crowd of family came over for a party recently; by the end of the evening, the kids had nicknamed her “Happy Feet”.

We hope Alice and Ripples are enjoying themselves a little more now Len and I certainly are. We are grateful to all the staff and friends of Boxer Rescue for taking care of these two and helping us find them. We are also grateful to the generous people and resources who made it possible for them to have a good place to live during the time they were up for adoption.

Thanks again--we look forward to staying in touch.

With love from our little family,

Kathy, Len, Trina (Ripples) and Maura (Alice)

Dexter

Hello Arizona Boxer Luv Rescue,

I thought we should check in. About 3 years ago, we adopted Dexter from you. He was a great choice, a very well behaved dog and truly part of the family now. Our son continues to threaten to take him!

Dexter gets to spend most of the day at home napping, but in the evening, he is ready go for his walk. I usually let him run along side my bicycle as he get his best exercise doing that and he is very good at it. He knows when I say "go right" to turn in that direction. I used to go on long bike trips and take Dex. Then I would load up the trailer and let him ride when he got tired (see attached picture). Tough life, huh. It did get some strange looks from others.

Dexter is not a slim boxer. He does like his biscuits and gets some when we leave and when we return. He needs to have his bowl full. If it is getting close to empty, he usually has to point that out to us. I believe he gets a little stressed at the thought of an empty bowl. ;-)

Shortly after we adopted him, we discovered he had Valley Fever. After many trips to the Vet, and alot of medication, it looks like he licked it and is doing fine.

Thanks again,

Dan Wagner

Ricky

Hello Boxer Luv! We're Ed & Lele Wentworth, and you placed Ricky with us a couple of years ago. We were looking for a male to replace Mookie, our pit-bull mix, who had died suddenly and unexpectedly of lung cancer. Actually, Ed was skeptical; we still had three girls, and he didn't think we "needed" to replace Mookie. Additionally, although we both had extensive experience with rescues, neither of us had ever had a boxer. I'd always thought they looked very cool, though, and then came across your web site. After finding out what our home life was like - information about the other dogs, the two cats, the yard, etc. - you placed Ricky with us. Not only did he immediately change Ed's mind about needing another dog, but he has proven to be the joy of our lives. He is without question the sweetest and most adorable dog either of us has ever had. And, astonishingly, he manages to be *both* the cutest *and* the handsomest dog in the world at the same time!!! We don't know how he does it.

Since adopting Ricky, we have relocated to the Chicago area. We drove Ricky and his sisters cross-country. During that drive, Ricky discovered grass (he apparently grew up as a desert dog, although he's no lover of extreme temperatures at either end of the thermometer). He was thrilled! So soft! So cool!! He now has his own back yard full of it. More importantly, he also has the local dog park - 20 fenced-in acres where he can just run and run and run and play with new-found friends. We took the enclosed picture there, catching him in mid-loop. We'd like to submit it for consideration for the 2007 Boxer Luv calendar; we think it epitomizes the happiness that animal rescue can bring to both the dogs and their owners. (And yes, that *is* his tongue!)

Thanks!

Ed & Lele Wentworth

Jasper

Attached is an update from Jaspers new family, here is his background:

6/4/06- We rescued a young male ( 11 months) at Animal Care & Control that was on Court Hold. It was an animal abuse case and owner surrendered to AC&C. Jasper is quiet & timid at first but after a few minutes he warms up and clings to you. Beautiful brindle boy.

Good morning Shawn,

I wanted to once again thank you and the Boxer Luv Rescue team for allowing my family the opportunity to adopt and take home Dakota (Jasper). He is an absolute pleasure and joy and beneath his skittish eyes is an amazing, spiritfilled animal just waiting for the chance to blossom.

I'm pleased to tell you that Dakota's first night with his new family went very well. Of course, being from an Italian family, Dakota was greeted by the whole gang right down to his new grandparents. His tail started moving almost immediately as family and friends showered smooches and hugs all over him.He snacked a bit on his food (in which I†poured 3 bountiful cups) and an occasional piece of popcorn that my Mom (grandma) would sneak to him. He has gone potty outside and has not yet had 1 accident.

Sleep was something that we could tell he needed but he was very unsure about closing his eyes and laying down was almost impossible for him to do until much later in the evening. He seems fearful of the bedroom which makes me wonder if abuse took place in a similar type room. As my husband advised, I have to stop torturing myself by trying to figure out how or who hurt him, I have to think about the now and future and the love that he'll have from here on out! Anyway, When he finally started to feel more secure, Dwight put him in bed with me and the two of us laid together for a couple hours with Dakota's head on my stomach as I could feel his body start to relax and he slept.

I woke this morning at 4:00am to the wonderful sound of noisy chomping on food. I sat with Dakota outside for about 1/2 hour while he pottied and sniffed the quiet yard. We headed back to sleep and were up again at 8:00am. He has been non stop playing with my daughter Rachel and is truly intrigued by the 2 cats. To my surprise, my Siamese/Himalayan mix is very patient and calm with him but my tabby is not so sure yet and he is a bit more vocal about his displeasure with Dakota's presence.

Oh, I forgot to mention that my parents brought their Boston Terrier (Buddy) over with them to meet Dakota. I was a little nervous but almost immediately the two of them hit it off and spent the evening romping around with not one ounce of aggression from either of them. (Buddy is a year 1/2). We decided to all get together again tonight for another play date!

I read the story that you gave me about the "Rescued Boxer" and I sobbed all the way home. I miss Payton so much but I just know that Dakota will quickly help to heal my heart and fill the void that was left when we put Payton to rest. Thank you again for believing in us and I promise you that Dakota will be loved and cared for and will be happy in his new forever home!

I look forward to talking to you again soon. Please pass along my update to the team!

Warmest Regards,

Leeanne and Dwight W....Dakota Too

 Trudy

Dear Boxer Luv Rescue,

I just wanted to give you an update on Trudy. She and Ali are getting along just fine ,as you can see in the photo she is loving him!We have to buy her a new collar as she has outgrown the old one. We love her SOOOOOOOOO much!

 New Boxer Luv Volunteer!

This is an Email from a Boxer Luv Volunteer who has several boxers (Winston & Oscar)and a new baby!

"OK...I always heard of Boxers being good with babies and mine have lived up to the reputation. Since we came home with the baby, Winston has been Anya's little body guard. He will try to comfort her when she cries and notifies me immediately if she is waking up...even though I can hear her on the monitor. It is adorable. They even take naps together sometimes...like the pic.

Oscar has even gotten in on taking care of her too. The other day I was rocking her and she was crying. It was taking her a minute or two to settle down. Oscar went, got his bone and put it in her bouncy chair. He kept looking at the chair and looking at her, like don't you want it, it makes me happy. When that didn't settle her down he took it to her sling. He just couldn't understand why she didn't want it."

Joanne

 Kenny

Thanks for checking up Harry.

Kenny is doing wonderful. We have been

going running twice a day (morning and evening) and taken a couple

visits to Petco. He behaved a lot better then I expected when Randy and

I first took him to Petco and everyone he meets falls in love with him.

He had some scrapes and cuts on him when I got him from Paul, so I got

some cream to put on them to help them heal faster. He sleeps in bed

with me at night and loves to cuddle. I've gotten him plenty of toys to

keep him occupied. His favorite is this squeaky football that he even

likes to play with himself. We are great companions because he has so

much energy just like I do. We have so much fun together and I really

do think we are a perfect match.

Jessica E.

  Lilah

Harry, it's good to hear from you. Lilah is doing well! She is such a hoot and joy to our family. She and I are enjoying a lazy day at home...in fact, she's napping at my feet...if you can believe that! Thank you again for selecting her for us...we absolutely adore her. Jasmine is away for the weekend, but she gave Lilah a great big hug before she left and squeezed her as she said her goodbyes. I know that it'll be a sweet reunion when she returns tomorrow. Have a great 4th!

Ricky Jones

June 3rd, 2006

My Husband and I adopted Ricky Jones this January. He has Valley Fever and had been underweight at one time. His foster mom nursed him back to health and then he came to live with us. He has a brother Mase, a Boxer /Lab, which he gets along with great. They play hard all day long. Ricky Jones is happy, healthy, and much loved. His Valley Fever titer is less then 1:4 and he doesn’t have to take meds any more. He is a wonderful dog and brings joy to our lives. He is the messiest eater I have ever seen but we love him any way. We thank God for such a wonderful addition to our family.

Thank you Boxer Luv Rescue for everything you do.

Sincerely, Amanda and Chris

Tundra

Dear Boxer Luv Rescue,

About two years ago, we adopted Tundra from you.

Here is an update on Tundra:

After settling in and getting comfortable with Jackie and I, she then became good friends with our big Boxer, Sundance. They played together HARD here in Goodyear, racing across the back patio, playing tug of war and entertaining us as only boxer's can. Jackie then had to head out to our B&B in Southeastern Arizona, the George Walker House for the tourist season. Tundra learned to meet and greet our many guests and yard-birders from Sundance. In fact, one group of visitors stopped by on their way to the airport and Told us: "no need to come out, we just needed dog-fix before we headed to the airport". Tundra is an excellent watchdog with a specific bark for cars, another for deer, and yet another for chipmunks and ground squirrels that steal the bird seed.

Tundra loves to go for rides and being a very small boxer, can curl up on the bucket seats in the truck and 4Runner. She goes to EMT Meetings with Jackie, and occasionally gets to go the AVA ranch and spend the night with local rancher Ted Troller. Tundra loves to run through his front yard at full gallop and sleep so close to the fire place you would think she was getting cooked!

Tundra also loves children, especially toddlers, and stands stock still as they use her for a brace, stool, or other plaything. She has never been a "licker" and the recent tasting of a two-year old's face with a runny nose stopped her in her tracks. She most likely will NOT be licking a small face anytime again soon (smelled like milk, tasted like boogers!)

Tundra was real prize, and our lives would be incomplete without her in it. We need to say THANK YOU to Dona for placing Tundra with use. She did an excellent job placing Tundra with us. She seemed to know just what we and Tundra needed from each other. I am sure she has made and continues to make "perfect matches".

Winston & Jackie L.

We are doing great. Rocco (aka Rocky Raccoon)is actually here at work with me today. Snuffling the customers and kissing the babies!

The bump on his back leg turned out to be a bursitis (sp?) type of inflammation from flopping himself down on the ground.

He made his first trip to the sand dunes with us last weekend and did beautifully. He is hesitant to get into the truck to go, but once he's in he does great. We just can't get over how mellow he is. He does have his moments and we see him in the backyard doing boxer burn outs, but its almost like he's shy about it.

We thought we had our house baby proofed, but its not very puppy proofed yet. He's finding lots of good things like kids shoes and toys. Doesn't destroy them, just moves them to a spot he prefers.

Anyway, all is well. We are thrilled to have him and will be in touch in a few months to get him a friend. He's definitely in need of some doggie companionship. The other old dogs in our family just can't keep up with him.

Have a great weekend!

Thanks again,

Amy & all the boys in my house!!!

Leila

 Dear Boxer Luv Rescue,

Leila is doing WONDERFULLY!!! She is so amazing! She has really picked up housetraining and her crate. She is such a great addition to our family. We had her weighed today and she is now at 42lbs, a gain of 7 pounds in a month! Our vet said that she is completely healthy, and well adjusted. She is a very vocal boxer, and will woo woo and talk to us all the time (including 5am on a Saturday) and in true boxer form, she believes she is a lap dog. Leila will wiggle her way into your lap everytime! I have attached some pictures for you. In some of the pictures she is playing with our friends puppy...

Harry, we cant thank you enough for allowing Leila to become a part of our family. She truly has found her "forever home." More updates to follow!

Sincerely,

Julie and Chris

Chevelle is doing great she has come a long way since we first got her. she has gained some weight and is now on a regular eating schedule. She is still very scared of strangers ,but she knows who her mom is , the only male she loves is my boyfriend .

She is treated like a princess ,spoiled is an under -statement for her!

She has a lot of love to offer us and we love it. She is calm for a boxer and we dig that too. We heard her bark for the first time on Saturday, it had been 5 weeks since we got her we thought maybe she did not speak ,but now we know she speaks. I could go on and on about her but that is enough, I’m sure.

Thank you so much for the wonderful addition you have added to our lives, we could not be happier!

We are looking into getting another one soon.

THANKS SO MUCH,

Danielle

Farley !!!

I adopted Farley in December, and its been a wonderful time. When he first arrived he was so nervous, he couldn't relax at all... I was most

concerned about how he would react to my then 1yr. old daughter. From the start he was great with her. He loves to go into her room in the morning when she wakes up and nuzzle her through the slats. He makes her laugh by licking her face. If I put a blanket on the floor the two of them will roll around and play together. He's very careful not to play too hard with her, and if he does accidentally knock her down, she laughs knowing that her "dah" loves her if not a little overjoyfully.

Farley got very upset in the beginning when I would leave the house even though my Mom stays with my daughter at home. He's really a "mama's boy" even now, the cord is only so long....he's so happy when I come home from night classes. I am so happy to see his sweet face and his boxer wiggle.

A lot of people I've told his story to tell me how unselfish it was of

me to adopt an adult dog, but really the opposite is true...it worked out

much better for me to have an adult dog even though we had some bumps in the road. And I can't imagine what it would be like if I had passed him up in favor of a younger dog. He goes to bed early-about 7pm, and arises early when my daughter awakes at about 5am-ranchers hours...

At first I tried to make Farley sleep in his kennel, according to

advice, but he whined and barked all night. As soon as I let him out he

curled up with me and that's been the way ever since. I sleep on a futon on

the floor, and the first night I swear I could see him thinking, "all right,

she's got the world's biggest doggie bed!"

Farley is such a beautiful dog, I get asked all the time what kind of dog he is, do I show him, etc. He runs about 20 miles a week with Leah (my daughter) and I and also hikes once a week with us. Both Leah and Farley get excited when they see the running shoes go on my feet.

As a result of the attention we attract on the trail, one 5ft. tall woman with a 25# toddler in a backpack, and a very motivated dog-I have talked to many people about BoxerLuvRescue, and the breed in general. I can see how many folks underestimate the commitment to exercise an active dog daily. I was already a daily runner/hiker/walker, so it was easy to add Farley to the routine.

My Mom is an avowed "cat person". Farley has really impressed her, he's won her over. She laughs at his silliness and is grateful for his protectiveness of Leah.I caught her, about a month after we got Farley, massaging the special spot on his ears that he loves for us to rub. She laughs at the way he slides on our wood floors as he overshoots his destination and then runs in place.

Farley has made me a believer in the Boxer breed, he's just so sweet and protective at the same time. He's got just enough mischief in him to be funny, I love my goofy boy. I hope he enjoys his first of many summers INSIDE the house. I get so sad when I think about him not being appreciated or loved enough, but he's home now. Thankyou so much for the work you do, the many hours you put in caretaking and matching up dogs and families.

God Bless,

Rose R.

Willie

Last summer when we lost our three year old Boxer, Rumsfeld to a neurological disorder we were sure we would be left broken hearted and lonely. Rumsfeld's breeder recommended looking into Boxer Rescue to find our new member for our family. We were excited and nervous as we visited the website. As we looked at all the Boxer pictures and read their stories, we knew adoption was for us. We filled out the application, had our phone interview and scheduled our home inspection. During the home inspection I was able to discuss my concerns and hopes for our new Boxer. We have a two year old, and though in a Boxer's nature to be terrific with children, it was crucial that our Boxer have experience with children. The volunteer assured me that they would make a perfect match, but that it could take some time. We were willing to wait.

Then one evening I came home and heard a message about a potential match, his name was Willie. I returned the call and had a long conversation with Trish Spencer, Willie's foster mama. Willie's past was enough for three lifetimes. Two years prior, Willie had been taken to the animal shelter for a medical condition that required surgery. Boxer Luv rescued him. At the time of his rescue, he needed surgery for a delicate male problem but was too sickly to operate. Willie had Distemper, Tick Fever and Valley Fever. Trish nursed him until he was strong enough to have his surgery. After his surgery, Willie needed TLC to continue healing his spirit and body. Trish wanted to keep Willie, but he had a run-in with one of her Alpha males. Willie was placed in a foster family.

Willie spent nearly two years with this foster family. Willie's foster family consisted of two parents, one baby and a female dog. Willie's temperament was sound around children, a little nervous around men (suspected abuse by original owner). They provided love and gave him the strength to become healthy. Willie was still recovering from Valley Fever, but showed no symptoms. Willie's medical history was not alarming to us since we had spent the last year and a half nursing our previous Boxer, who was not able to eat solid food. Valley Fever was nothing!! After hearing Willie's story I was positive, we wanted to meet him.

My daughter and I anxiously waited by the front window to catch the first glimpse of Willie. Trish drove up and there was Willie sitting in the front passenger seat! What a sight! Our visit lasted about three and a half hours. Willie was very reserved but got along well with our daughter. We decided then that he would become ours! We arranged the adoption for the next weekend. The first week was an adjustment, more for Willie than us. He needed extra encouragement that he was safe and in his forever home.

Today, almost six months later, he is so PERFECT! He is a perfect gentlemen in the house. He is a true Boxer outside! He averages ten Boxer burns around the yard a day. He can also jump surprisingly high, since he is on the smaller side for the breed. Most importantly, he is amazing with my daughter. She affectionately calls him "Willie Boy". She will also tell you he is her best friend upon questioning. She spends most of her time pushing, hugging, talking, singing, chasing and every other action possible with her "Willie Boy". When it seems as though she has harassed him to the limit- Willie will not go in to his crate for refuge or allow Maya to be placed in her playpen for time-out. They are truly a pair!!

Thank you Boxer Luv for your dedication to a remarkable breed! Thank you Trish for your time and support, and most of all for placing "Willie Boy" in our home and our hearts!!

Your Friends,

The Robles Family

Sammie

Boxer Luv Rescue -
These are the latest pictures of Sammie (Davis).  We thank you every day for bringing this boy into our lives.  Sammie is not only a member of our home, he is our child!
When we got Sammie, he was afraid of water.  As you can see from the picture, he loves water!  Going to the lake is a big deal to him.  He also had a sensitive stomach but after eating steaks that we were defrosting, no problems! We want you to know that he is living a charmed life.  He has a special bed even though he prefers sleeping across his daddy.  He has grandma and grandpa that spoil him and beg to babysit.
Sammie is an only child and we suspect he wants it that way.  He has given us so much!  We love our big little boy with all our heart!  Thank you so very much!

Holly

We adopted Holly (a.k.a. "Paintball") from your organization about 4 years ago. At the time we were living in Prescott, and then moved to Wyoming . I must say that while Holly didn't appreciate the Wyoming winter she absolutely loved chasing rabbits and other wildlife around our 25+ acres. We have now made what we hope is a permanent move to Tucson and Holly is in heaven! She can mostly be found 'sunning' herself next to the pool. Our Lab wants to stay in the house (air conditioning) only going out for necessities, but Holly loves the heat - unless of course she is laying on the couch.

I'll send more pictures as we get some.

Rusty Ruff

Just happy to report we have had Rusty now for 4 months and he is doing so great. We love him so much that even is now sleeping beside us on the bed. What a joy this beautiful dog has turned out to be. He is so smart. He is crazy sometimes but he makes us laugh. Thank you for blessing our family with such an amazing dog.

Zeus and Zena

Hi Dona-
Thought we would send a quick update on Z&z.  They love Cali. And we just had a big birthday bash for them. We decided their b-day is the day we got them. So we celebrated a year together on Nov. 6th. Had many of their friends over, golden retriver, 2 labs, siberian huskie, and many humans. We celebrated with party hats and even a doggie cake for them. We can't believe we have all been together for a year. We know we have many more enjoyable years with these truly lovable, sweet babies! Thanks to Boxer Luv for helping us complete our family!

Sandy, Ron, Zz

Note:  Boxer Luv rescued this bonded pair of boxers in 2004.  When we picked them up, they were covered with thousands of ticks.
It took four volunteers 5 hours to remove all the ticks and clean them up. The huge number of  ticks clogged the sink drain shut !

Duke and Dutchess

just thought I would drop a line and let you know how my kiddos are... I adopted Duke and Dutchess about 4-5 months ago. They are 2 very sweet boxers who were very scared at first but have done a great job adjusting to our family. Whether I am gone for 2 minutes or an hour they always greet me the same way... with their bodies wagging. They spent so much time outside before they got a home that they hate coming inside but once they are in they love it because that's when the spoiling begins. Ducthess was all skin and bones when I got her and now she is definitely filling out I can see the difference. These two are the most inseperable babies ever. They can't walk apart they can't sleep in different rooms they can't eat out of different bowls, they do everything together. I absolutly love my kiddos! They couldn't be any happier.  They are awseome.
Thank you for everything!

Brownie

I've been meaning to write and say thank you to Trish and Trent. Brownie is doing great! She LOVES to play with her boxer friends Brewster and Rufus. She is the funniest girl ever and she has become quite comfortable in her new home. When she first came I wondered if she ever barked, she was very calm. This crazy little girl has really come out of her shell. She likes to talk a lot and she lets me know when it's time to wake up (usually about 5:30 am :-)). She has SO much personality and she makes me laugh every day. Everybody that meets her falls in love with her instantly. She is such a good girl and I want to say thank you! Here are some pictures of her sleeping, the only time she settles long enough for a photo.

Thanks again!

In January we adopted Cowboy from your organization.  We were shown several lovely dogs, but felt he was the right choice for us.  He was underweight at around 48 lbs when we got him due to him being a stray and is now at a perfect 65 lbs.  We get so many compliments every time we take him on walks and to pet stores on how beautiful and he is.   Some even ask if he's a show dog.  Our 8 year old son will be showing him in 4-H next year.  But the reason I am writing this is to let you know that he has overcome all the challenges he was having through patience and training, training, training and that we all love him so much!  My husband has even made the admission that this is the best dog he's ever had (which a lot of people who are or were former Boxer owners will tell us) and that he loves him.  We got off to a shaky start, and even filled out a Surrender form during the summer as you remember, but changed our mind and decided to buckle down and give him some more time.  I'm sure glad we did!  It took about six months for everything to mesh, but it is great now.   I have taught him about 20 tricks and commands, including how to roll over and dance, which is pretty hard for a big dog to do but he does it with style!   He is so eager to please and picks up new tricks so quickly - most within one day!  I've got so many other things to teach him, such as play dead and "pray" - the sky is the limit with his intelligence.  He has a boat load of toys, a fluffy dog bed where he sleeps at the foot of our bed at night and we've done away kenneling him during the day.  He used to not be able to go 5 minutes in the house without chewing something, but now he doesn't do a thing no matter how long we may be gone.  He's also not a barker.  Several neighbors have commented that they didn't even know we had a dog because he's so quiet.  He only barks on command for potty or a treat, so they probably never hear him.
I know that everyone feels the same way about their dogs - but we have the best dog in the world!!  He has come along way. I've attached a couple pictures, one professionally taken, and at home. The professional picture doesn't show his best side. He was all worked up from the Dobermans in front of us who were growling at him.  He is the best dog I've ever had, and look at your website frequently in hopes of getting another one someday.

Thank You,
Joann P.

GRANT

           Before                                 After

Our boy Grant (a.k.a. Runt) came to us on April 1, 2005.  He was in pretty bad shape—very thin with loose and missing teeth and not even the energy to wag his little nub tail.  Weighing in at only 46lbs he was quite a sad boy. He had a big heart and just wanted some love and attention.  Grant took to his new sister Bailey instantly and they’ve been inseparable ever since!!  Even though Bailey is 4 months younger than Grant, she’s been his big sister—teaching him the rules of the house and how to use their new dog door!  We feed Grant the same good, rich puppy food that Bailey eats since we’ve had him and he just loves it!  Sometimes they get treats like carrots, green beans and other fruits and veggies (and of course dog bones too!).  Grant had gained over 12 lbs since we’ve had him (at last check) and he is just full of energy.  Now he doesn’t just ‘wag his nub’ he ‘shimmies’ his whole back side with excitement when we come home!!  He runs and plays all day with Bailey until they are just exhausted.  He loves chasing bugs at night, running thru the sprinklers and attacking the water that sprays from the garden hose!  He is a total clown and a gentle giant that thinks he’s a 55lb lap dog!  We are truly amazed by his progress and endurance! The girls at boxer rescue did a fantastic job of matching him to our family.  He has found his forever home! Thank you!

SKIPPY

Hi Guys:

Well it has been a few months since we adopted Skippy from you.  We have since changed his name to Max (short for Maximus – hell knows why!!!)

Max is silly, the clown of the household, highly intelligent (when he puts his mind to it) and life and soul of our home.  We have usually owned Retrievers or Retriever mixes, but now, my son and I are confirmed Boxer owners.  What an absolute delight.  I don’t think we have stopped laughing since he moved in.  We thank you guys for your time and patience while we made our decision over him.  The Valley Fever is under control and he is very healthy (weighs in at 62lb now).  Our vet said you would never know anything was wrong with him.  Four springs for legs and has the hind quarters of Bambi I have decided.

Thank you again for your help, we have an awesome addition to our family.

Hi Laura,

I adopted Julia last year and she is doing great!

She is a daddy's girl  and gets pampered and loved everyday!

She is the light of my life.  She lives with me and 6 other boxers and a Westie.

Julia sleeps with me every night and loves to be cuddled.

Here is a photo of her with her buddies, she has the red collar.

I've also attached 2 photos of her when we first rescued her,

it helps to appreciate how far she has come.

Thanks for your help with sponsoring her , you helped get her to where she is now!

Thank you Laura!!!
